How To Get Certified Copies From ICAI Via RTI?

CA July 2021 results are out, some students are satisfied with their results while some are not.

There's really nothing you can do to change your past results. However, what you can do to ensure that you do not repeat your mistakes in the future is to find out what were your mistakes in the first place.

How exactly you can find out your mistakes? You can do that by taking a look at your exam answer sheets.

There are two ways to obtain certified copies of answer sheets. One is an application via ICAI Porta & the other is RTI (Right to information)

In this blog, we are going to discuss the Procedure for Obtaining Certified Copies of Answer Sheets by using the second option that is under the RTI Act, 2005 from The ICAI.

Procedure For Obtaining Certified Copies Under The RTI Act

• Create an account at RTI online site
• Login to your RTI portal by entering Username and Password at the link given - https://rtionline.gov.in/
• Click on submit request option
• Click on the checkbox “I have read and understood the above guidelines”
• Now, click on the submit button.
• Online RTI Request Form screen will be displayed.
• In Search Public Authority filed, enter the keyword as Chartered and then select Institute of Chartered Accountant of India from the drop-down list and click on Ok. Name, address, educational qualifications, communication details will be auto-filled and you can change the same if required.
• In the field “Is the Applicant Below Poverty Line?”, select the option Yes/No as applicable.
• Now, in the field “Text for RTI Request application”, provide details and request for certified copies. (Draft application attached thereunder for your reference)
• Click on the Make Payment button to make the payment of Rs. 10/- towards application fee by using Internet banking, credit or debit card and click on the submit button, after making the payment.
• On submission of the application, a unique registration number would be issued, which may be referred by the applicant for any references in future. The applicant will get an email and SMS alert on the submission of the application.

Anyone can simply follow these steps to get the certified copies of answer sheets via RTI.

As per the RTI Act, candidates will receive the certified copies of their answer books within 30 days from the date of receipt of the application by the public authorities.

Application Fee To Obtain Certified Copies Under The RTI Act

The application fee for obtaining certified copies under the Right to Information Act, 2005 is Rs. 10/-

This application fee is waived off for applicants falling below the poverty line and by producing the proof of BPL Category.

Additional Fee for Inspection/Certified Copies

For providing the information under the provisions of the Right to Information Act, 2005 an additional fee shall be charged as per details given below:

• For each page (in A-4 or A-3 size paper) - Rs. 2/- per page
• For a copy in larger size paper - Actual price
• In the case of priced publications - Actual price printed.
• For inspection of records - No fee for the first hour; and a fee of Rs. 5/- for every fifteen minutes (or fraction thereof) thereafter
• For information provided in diskette or floppy - Rs. 50/- per diskette or floppy
